Top 5 Toys for Toddlers: Age 2 Edition

Updated: Jan 3

These are some of our absolute (tried and tested) favourites - click the links to shop!

Coming in at number 1 is Magna-tiles. These are probably the most played with in our house and adults & kids alike love them. They are always a toy that I enjoy playing with him so much and they are amazing for imaginative play. I've found others on the market that are cheaper but these feel the most sturdy and safe. I worry about magnets getting loose (not good when you have a toddler that tries to eat everything!) but that can't happen with these so it is worth the extra cost.

A few sets that we love:

Base Magna-tiles set - a great starter set. Bit more expensive but they will last and be played with for years.

Jungle set - lovely animal sets (there's also an Arctic one and Safari one)

Stardust set - pretty and the mirrors add a fun element too

Oliver has really got into floor puzzles and we do them at least once a day. His favourite is a farm one but I've also been eyeing up this tractor one that I know he would love.

This is something we have just got into recently but they are great way to create something that will keep them entertained for longer than 5 minutes. We can usually get a good hour or two out of a tuff tray activity and he will play independently on it too. At the moment I always use taste safe materials and Pinterest is a great place to find ideas!

They can be used outside and inside which is great for summer/winter and you can be as elaborate or simple as you want!

There's something about this house - it is great for pretend play. Oliver is just now starting to use the keys independently and this house is something he keeps on coming back to to play with.

5. Art supplies

Oliver has only recently got into arts & crafts a bit more. We like drawing and painting a lot so here are a few of our favourites:

Paint sticks - these are relatively mess free, really easy to use and great vibrant colours

Giant chalks - brilliant for summer days outside. These washed off easily and are good colours

Water books - love these for no mess and they are reuseable! Great for taking to restaurants to keep littlies entertained without a screen.

Paper roll - great for rainy afternoons and lasts a long time!
