Top Must-Read Books for Toddlers According to Parents and Experts

Updated: Jan 3

My two year old is obsessed with books. We read about 10 a day, if not more. I've listed and linked our favourites below.

I want my hat back & Others

These are my absolute favourite books and I'm always happy with Oliver asks for them. They are so clever and great fun to read. Oliver now joins in with the questions/answers and also gets the concept that the Rabbit isn't telling the truth.

There are three in the series - all three are brilliant.

Dinosaur Boo & more

I know Dinosaur Boo! off by heart we have done it so many times. The poem flows well and it is great fun to stop and pause and let your toddler fill in the words. There are others in the series, linked below, but Dinosaur Boo! is by far the best out of the ones we have.

Now if you have an animal obsessed toddler like me, then The Bedtime Book of Animals is a great read. The images are clear, have good facts and there's a great variety of animals. I am pretty sure my toddler can name more than the average adult now and we come back to this book again and again.

We were gifted Under The Love Umbrella when Oliver was born and it is still a joy to read. I think we both cried when we first read it and have since gifted it to others when they have had a baby. It is a beautiful book, with great images and a lovely message.

Bathe The Cat is a hilarious book which is a fun read. It can be a tongue twister at times which I enjoy and my toddler finds it great fun when the cat is up to mischief.
